Marble

As one of the students working on the KDE desktop globe Marble, I want to show the new features we got for the 4.1 version and the new ones that are under heavy development within the Summer of Code. This includes especially the support for the Panoramio feature that might be known from Google Earth that is currently developed by Shashank Singh and the usage of vector tiles instead of pre-rendered tiles loaded from the KDE-Servers. The vector tiles will improve the possibility to include some more features like client based routing planners and selectable objects on the maps. One of the future goals is the direct integration of the openstreetmap project. Marble can then be used as a frontend for the openstreetmap project too.
Patrick Spendrin
My name is Patrick Spendrin, I am 26 years old and I study physics in Leipzig, Germany working on Monte Carlo computer simulations. I am both contributing to the porting efforts to the Windows platform as well as to Marble from the KDEEDU project. On Windows I currently maintain the emerge build system + fix some errors from time to time in other apps that can be build on windows.
