Gallium3D - Graphics Done Right

Speaker: Zack Rusin

The dark ages of graphics acceleration are finally over. On the dead carcass of the old driver model a new framework is born. The needs of modern graphics hardware and desire for a huge wow-factor that has to accompany todays interfaces forced the creation of Gallium3D. Gallium3D is a new graphics driver model, used to accelerate graphics APIs such as OpenGL, Direct3D and OpenVG. It is going to be the heart of the Free Software graphics stack for years to come. In this talk we'll take a closer look at what exactly is Gallium3D, how it works, what it does and why it is so exciting.

[Zack Rusin]

Zack Rusin has been rendered using approximately 400,000,000 vertices. The rendering process took approximately 9 months but the result, know as the "Graphics Ninja", has been destined to become one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Unfortunately due to some bizarre conincidences Zack has become a computer graphics expert and decided to stick with it. He works for Tungsten Graphics where he spends all his time hacking on Gallium3D and other graphics related projects. Thereby making the world a better place to live in for all computer graphics loving people.
